What is the Webster Technique?

The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated” which allows for proper alignment of the pelvic girdle. Is Chiropractic Safe?

Not only is it safe to visit a chiropractor during your pregnancy, it's also highly beneficial for both pregnant woman and baby.

Dr. Blanchet is trained and certified in adjusting pregnant women. She uses a specific technique where she applies low force impulses on the pelvic bones. There is not rotation and or torsion applied to the pelvis during a Webster adjustment.

Dr Blanchet uses a table and pillows that adjusts and supports a growing belly so that no unneeded pressure is applied to the abdomen making it safe for the pregnant woman and baby. Unlike a normal chiropractic adjustment, a prenatal chiropractic adjustment does not cause cavitation or the commonly known “popping” sound associated with a chiropractic adjustment.

What about A Breech Baby?

This is the MOST common question I get as a Webster Certified Chiropractor and the #1 reason why pregnant women seek my services.

YES we can help with optimizing baby's position.

When receiving a Webster adjustment, we are simply removing misalignments in the pelvis which can cause torsion and undue stress to the surrounding ligaments and soft tissue making it difficult for baby to turn. No adjustment is done to the baby - only to the mother's pelvic bones. But by removing the misalignments and tension to the surrounding tissues, baby is then able to move freely therefor going from head up to the proper head down position. Please keep in mind that there are other reasons as to why a baby is breech that Chiropractic can not help with (i.e short umbilical cord, heart defects, uterus shape, etc.)
